We consider the non-interacting massive Wess-Zumino model in four-dimensional anti-de Sitter space and show that the conformal dimensions of the corresponding boundary fields do not always satisfy the relation expected from superconformal invariance.

We explain why compact U (1) confines and how to fix it. We show that plaquettes of negative trace carry most of the confinement signal in compact SU (2). We show how to perform noncompact gauge-invariant simulations without auxiliary fields. We suggest a way to simulate fermions without doublers.

Using an under-relaxed cooling algorithm we investigated the vacuum in the 2d O(3) model and 4d pure gauge SU (2). We calibrated the amount of cooling performed to have similar physical effect at different lattice spacings.
